The Portuguese Citizen of the Year of Western Australia Awards 2026 Honours individuals and groups who uplift our community, preserve our heritage, and inspire future generations.
Each category highlights a key part of Portuguese/Australian pride, from cultural contribution and community service to youth leadership, sport, professional excellence, and entrepreneurship.
- Nominations open: 1st August 2026
- Nominations close: 30th September 2026
- Judging period: October 2026
Q: Who can submit a nomination?
A: Anyone can submit a nomination, including family members, friends, colleagues, employers, community organisations, or the nominees themselves. Self‑nominations are welcome.
Q: Can I submit multiple entries?
A: Choose the category that best reflects the nominee’s most significant achievements and contributions. If a nominee is eligible for more than one category, multiple nominations may be submitted. The Awards Team may reassign nominations to a more suitable category if required.
Q: What happens after I submit?
A: After submission, nominations are reviewed for eligibility and assessed by an independent judging panel against the published criteria.
Nominees and nominators will be advised prior to the event, and winners will be announced at the Ceremony.
